Metamorphic Studies Group meeting in Cagliari
Old Members鈥� Graduate Conference and Academic Trust Travel Fund report 鈥� Xiangying Ye (2024, DPhil Earth Sciences)
From 8 April to 11 April 2026, I attended the MSG meeting in Cagliari, Italy, together with my supervisor, Professor Richard Palin. During the meeting, there were two days of presentations and discussions, covering a variety of topics. Many of the talks focused on thermodynamic modelling and related methods, which I found very interesting and useful for my own research. These presentations helped me to better understand the current developments in this field and gave me some new ideas.
I also presented my current work in the form of a poster. During the poster session, I had the opportunity to discuss my research with more than ten researchers. Through these discussions, I received helpful feedback and suggestions, and I was able to see my work from different perspectives. This was very valuable for improving my research and thinking about future directions.
Due to time and funding limitations, I did not participate in the field excursion. However, I still learned a lot from the academic activities of the meeting. The knowledge and ideas I gained will be useful for my ongoing work, and I plan to include some of these discussions in my future paper.
