Orfe贸 Catal脿 name OM winner
Jonathan Lane (1977, Biochemistry) was recently awarded 1st Prize in the prestigious International Choral Composition Competition of the Orfe贸 Catal脿 in Spain for his new setting of the Marian hymn, Ave Maris Stella.
The jury, composed of Pablo Larraz, conductor of the Orfe贸 Catal脿 and president of the jury; Buia Reixach i Feixes, conductor of the Cor de Noies de l鈥橭rfe贸 Catal脿; Montserrat Meneses, assistant conductor of the Orfe贸 Catal脿 and conductor of the Coral Cantiga; Isabel Mantec贸n, conductor of the Cor de la Diputaci贸 de Girona, and composers Marc Tim贸n and Ferran Cruixent, considered 362 scores entered from 219 composers across 51 nationalities.
Jonathan鈥檚 submission will premiere at the Festa de la M煤sica Coral on March 3, 2024 at the Palau de la M煤sica Catalana in Barcelona. Tickets available at
